I saw some very beautiful cherries (さくらんぼ) 'n blueberries at the supermarket (すぱ) yesterday.I juz had to buy em for Immanuel. There's juz something about these berries thing that I can't resist.
This morning I found a yellow ladybird inside the house.Immanuel n I were sooooo excited! We couldn't take our eyes off our new pet.Its body is spotlessly yellow in color with a white 'n black spotted head.Although the internet said that ladybirds dun stay alive for very long,I do hope that our new friend will stay w us for a long time.
I read about a speech by MP Sam Tan (Tanjong Pagar GRC) in Parliament on Monday, 25 May 2009. And I especially like what he said about teaching our children a core curriculum of values. In his family, the Tan value system consists of: 1) Honesty 诚实 (cheng shi) 2) Filial piety 孝顺 (xiao shun) 3) Sincerity 真诚 (zhen cheng) 4) Compassion 爱心 (ai xin) 5) Society above self. 贡献 (gong xian) This system is manifested in the things that they do as a family and hopefully will stay with his children when they grow up. This morning, while riding in the car with Dabo on our way to work, we were listening to Pastor Prince's sermon on CD. He also mentioned that the divine order should be: 1) God 神 (shen) 2) Family 家人 (jia ren) 3) Work (career wise) 事业(shi ye) I totally agree with these two wise men and I hope to inculcate these values in my family in particularly Immanuel.
Tonight we had dinner at a very old and traditional 'Khek' association restaurant to celebrate my dad's birthday. The 'Khek' dialect is a minority group in Singapore. The food is this restaurant is very very good.I especially love their salted egg fried crab and also the chilli one.(I forgot to take pictures of both.)Besides the crabs, we also had the 'chicken wrapped-in-paper', sambal kang kong, promfret fish steamboat. It is a truly satisfying meal. Burrr..rrrp!
LexXi finally could remove his eye stitches today. But the progress seemed slow as we could still detect the ulcer and redness in the right eye.Dr James said it could takes months for his condition to improve as the ulcer was already quite serious when we came to him.LexXi is put on antibiotics and eye cream for as long as it takes. But we will apply anointing oil on him tonight and Jesus will heal him in HIS own way and time.Becoz I know that whatever is important to me, it is also important to HIM. God bless our dear LexXi.Amen.
While preparing a salad for myself, I accidentally 'sliced' off the end part of the flesh n' nail at the tip of my finger. It was bleeding so much that I had expected to faint and wldnt make it to the doctor.Dabo had to wake Immanuel up from his nap and carried him to the car to get us to the 24hr clicnic near our place.I had never bled so much in my life except during my monthly times and childbirth. The doc says I shld go back in two days' time to change the dresing. In the meantime,I must keep it dry.Doc also mentioned that my finger might have scar and irregular shaped nails after this incident.Declaration:Any resemblance to Daniel Wu's character in Shinjuku Incident is purely coincidental.
I had planned to cook a Japanese bento of minced beef stew for Immanuel's lunch.I will usually use an expresso cupful to measure the uncooked rice and this will be enough to last him for two meals. But I had quite a major kitchen incident later that I couldn't cook thereafter.
Today Dabo and I attended the SAWS 2009. We spent almost our entire day here from 8am - 5pm.It was an eye-opener for us to learn hat so many diiferent types of animals are being exploited in so many different ways. We left the symposium with much awareness of the animals around us and hope to make changes in our local system for the betterment of the animals.
